HEATHER GORDON

Heather is a landscape artist who takes inspiration from places she loves to visit and have very fond memories for her. Raised in the beautiful city of Bath, she loves to take inspiration from painting scenes in and around Bath, as well as further afield. The sea features strongly in Heather’s work, especially the characterful fishing communities in Cornwall and the East coast of Scotland.

Heather paints in oils. She began painting many years ago, whilst working in Chicago, USA and more recently successfully passed an Oil Painting Diploma taught by Martin Kinnear in Norfolk. She loves the way oils can be manipulated on board or canvas, pushed around to get the required effect, and enjoys using glazes and adding texture to her work with use of palette knives. During the diploma she also experimented with abstract landscapes that push the boundaries of her art, exaggerating the curves and swirls that we see naturally occurring around us to produce some original, dreamlike, pieces.
